Daniel's Story

My name is Daniel Stuparu. I was born in Romania. In 1988 I escaped from my country in very difficultconditions. As part ofthe Christian minority in Romania, my family was persecuted for our faith by the Communist regime. Our only hope of living as Christians in freedom was to escape by swimming across the Danube River to Yugoslavia. My brother and I almost perished as we swam for more than 5 hours to reach the Yugoslavian border. There we spent 3 months in a refugee camp until we were eventually awarded Australian visas to become permanent residents of Australia. My mission is to help the impoverished people of my country through building homes and community centres. With God’s help I arrived in Australia on the 23rd of September 1988. When I arrived here I started to help the poor people from my country, especially those from the North East, where there was much poverty and hardship. With God’s help and with the help of other Christian missions we sent about 70 containers with food, clothes, shoes, medical aid etc to the poor of my country. Please read about our past and current projects, and If God opens your heart, please help us in this work by donating directly to us. Our bank account details are on our Contact Page. God Bless you! Daniel.

ROMBAC AID INC. is a Christian, non-profit organization, which is trying to raise funds for needy people in devastated areas of North East Europe. During 2005,from March to October, very heavy rains fell in this area and massive floodwaters covered it six times, destroying railways, roads, public buildings and many homes. Never before that part of the world experienced such incredible amounts of rainfall.

In the past, ROMBAC AID INC. organization has helped in the building of six houses in this area. One such house was built for a family who, a few years ago, were living in what some described as a pigsty. The parents had four children, two older boys and two handicapped girls. One girl, aged 18,weighed only 30 Kilos and looked like a hunted animal as she hid in these abysmal conditions. Her father and mother and two older brothers went from village to village to try to find work to raise money for their family’s survival. Meanwhile, two girls would wander the village and beg for food. When they were given a slice of bread they would wolf it down, looking around to see that nobody was going to take it from them.

One of the girls was seen eating grass and salt, and even bark from the trees, so her parents decided they would have to tie her to the house with a chain. The father even walked 25 Km. to the nearest city, to try to obtain a disability pension for the girls, but there was none available. Back in 2001,members of ROMBAC AID INC. in Sydney’s west, heard about this family and their poverty and decided to try to help them. Although they were only a small group of about 25 people, they raised AUD $ 5000 and were able to send the money to a Christian builder and architect.

With this money the builder was able to buy building materials and constructed, free of charge, a lovely new house for this family, built next to their old run down hovel. While the world is full of computers and other modern equipment, and so many communicate with each other around the world via the internet, it is hard to believe that part of the world, some people still live in the Middle Ages.

Today the Builder and other Supporters from that area are trying to raise funds to continuebuilding a large Multi-function Centre, which will provide much needed facilities for the poor people in the devastated area. It will have two sections, one will consist of a large Community Hall to replace the old one destroyed by floods, and adjacent rooms, where they will run a Kindergarten for pre-school children, and Child Care Centre, where younger children can be looked after while their parents are at work. The adjoining section will include a Medical Centre with rooms for physiotherapists and other medical workers, as well as a Pharmacy.

Much of the work at the Multi-function Centre is being done on a charity basis as so many of the people are very poor. The members of ROMBAC AID INC. are trying to raise funds to cover this project.
